Havasupai (2005 Rim to Rim)
We are once again planning our (nearly) annual Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Run! The two weekends that are looking the most likely right now are Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26) or the following weekend (June 1st-2nd) which is the full moon. Please let us know which one you would prefer by either posting a comment at the end of this message or by contacting us. We also need to know who has a car they would be willing to bring (Vans, SUV’s, etc. might be best) and we may possibly need people to drive around while we are running. In the past, a majority of the Group has run Rim to Rim the first day and then the following day run into Havasupai and hung out there all day. This is an experience not to be missed, or forgotten, so start training now!
What an incredible run!!! From the Soccer Park up the stairway by the watertanks, through the Hall of Oaks and up to the Rock Pile where we stopped for a quick drink and to let others catch up…Then over to Trail 51 while watching a herd of Elk on the side of Mt.Baldy. This was an exillarating run, includings the patches of snow crossings. But the reward was coming down Dry Canyon to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and back to the Park. The Lucky winner of the MP3 player was Cheryl Corbet and a 3 pack of Double Layor Blister Free Socks went to Marcie Bozung. About 30 lucky runners were able to enjoy this great run. The most entertaining part of the run was the incredibly varied distances recorded on everyone’s GPS units even though each ran the same course. For many it was their first experience on this course, but not one to be forgotten… Run with the Sojourners…

We had 30+ people again Saturday morning for the 5th straight week, not bad considering how cold it’s been. We had Carlo draw the names this mornig and Kim Rowberry was the big winner of the Runner’s Corner prize drawings, winning the Perfect Curve MP3 Player (Valued at $120). Congratulations to Kim and the winners of the other giveaways. “Bonneville to Battle” is Saturdays group run. Meet at the North Orem Soccer Park. Thanks to everyone for making these runs great!

LA Freeway Heading South
Another group of 33+ runners this weekend at the LA Freeway for another great weekend run. Not bad for just over 10 degrees and nasty conditions. For the second week in a row, Carlo Orowitz won the grand prize in the drawing, a GoLite Ether Shell. Jeanine Searle won a pair of 180’s convertible running gloves and Chris Puzey won a sweet pair of Darn Tuff socks. Thanks to Runner’s Corner for donating the killer gear. “‘Someone’ was complaining that Carlo won two weeks in a row” said Hawk, “but that’s the beauty of it, the more you come, the better chance you have at winning.” Once your name is in, it stays in until it is drawn, with you either winning the prize or losing out by not being there. Here’s to another great week of running…
