This is our biggest event of the year for the club and it takes a lot of effort from many different club members to put this on. So here’s to a good show this weekend! A few friendly reminders:
-Busses leave from 5:45-6:10 and everyone cannot fit onto the last bus!
-You can’t get on to a bus without a number
-Bib numbers must be worn on the front!
-There is nice camping at the starting line if you want to sleep in a bit
-You can pick up your packet Friday at Runner’s Corner in Orem from 12-6 or get it the morning of the race at Mapleton City Park

2007 SRC Timpanogos Run
Saturday morning, about a dozen Sojourners took part in our annual trek up Mt. Timpaonogos. Anyone who has done Timp knows that this is a formidable challenge to run. However, aside from a little altitude sickness and a couple of falls everyone came out okay and all who started were able to finish.  On this near perfect day, peaks were ascended and descended, sweeping views were taken in, and a mountain goat the size of a small cow was even seen up close and personal. Congratulations to all who participated in this years event and we hope to have more next year!
The Runner’s Corner-Sojourners Ultra team had a great weekend. At the Katcina Mosa 100k in the mountains above Utah Valley, defending champion Brian Beckstead ran a few minutes faster than last year but eventually gave way to Dave Hunt who powered his way to the win. Dave and Brian are both part of the newly formed Runner’s Corner-Sojourners Ultra Team that has experienced phenomenal success this year.
July 28th: New ultra team member Shane Martin won the Millcreek Canyon 50k and set a new course record along the way. Way to go Shane!

July 28-29: Mixed Relay team wins the Northwest Passage Relay in Washington, even beating out the all men’s teams.
July 24th: Brenda Gray, Devra Vierkant, Golden Harper all win their divisions at the Deseret News 10k
July 21st: Mike Vick takes 2nd at the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon

Preliminary report: The Runner’s Corner – Sojourner’s mixed team took on the Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage this past weekend and came out with the win. The relay runs from Blaine, WA on the Canadian Border down nearly 200 miles to Widbey Island in the middle of the Puget Sound. The team not only defeated all the mixed teams, but beat every team there, including the all-men teams. The team also won the beautiful disaster award for their mishaps that led to getting to the starting line over 1 1/2 hours late and take nearly another 1 1/2 hours of wrong turns due to the course being cleaned up ahead of them. Congratulations to Devra, Kirtley, Amanda, Melinne, Kimberly, Jen, Danny, Mike, Golden, Joe, Rivers, and Jake for their efforts! Thanks also to everyone who contributed to the success of the team.
